PNTMC Trip card: January – June 2009

Although we try to keep to the schedule, changes are unavoidable at times. Updates are given at club nights, and/or in the monthly newsletter. If there is a trip you are really keen on going on, it pays to contact the trip leader well in advance. 

 

Trip Grading

Trip grades depend on many factors, especially weather and terrain. A reasonably proficient tramper should be expected to do the trips in the following times:

         E                            Easy                          3-4 hrs              

         M                           Medium                      5-6 hrs                                     

         F                            Fit                             about 8 hrs

         FE                          Fitness Essential        over 8 hrs

Other grades:

         T                            Technical skills required

         I                             Instructional

 

Gear for trips

For day trips each person should have appropriate footwear, small pack, lunch and snacks, water, waterproof jacket, overtrousers, gloves, warm hat and a whistle. There must be at least one torch, first aid kit, map and compass amongst the group plus an adequate supply of toilet paper and sunblock.

For weekend and longer trips, discuss gear requirements with the trip leader.

Trip participants

Contact the leader at least 3 days in advance. Trips leave from Countdown car park. A charge for transport will be collected on the day.

 

Trip leaders

Please advise a trip coordinator, as soon as possible, if you will be unable to run your trip as scheduled. This is so that alternatives can be arranged, put in the newsletter, or passed on at club night.

If a club trip is late returning, please do not worry unduly as there is probably a good reason for the delay. If you are in any doubt, please phone one of the
