Outlook:	Located at 700m amongst beech forest on terrace beside Oroua River.  Nice spot for weekend tramps or for a day trip.  Oroua River can be difficult to cross when high.

History:	Built by NZFS as 6 bunker in 1960s. Extensively remodeled and refurbished by DOC in early 1990s.  A handy staging post for a variety of tops trips - either onto Tunupo or to Whanahuia Range - or progressing up river to Triangle Hut and beyond.
