Located in slight hollow on side of Daphne Ridge, 3 km SSE of Tiraha over looking Tukituki River at about 1350 m. A spot at the edge of beech forest with a glorious outlook over Hawkes Bay. Often the staging post for the Sawtooth Ridge classic between Tiraha and Ohuinga, the evening stop after a Rangi crossing or a traverse southwards to Pohangina Saddle and beyond. |

| History: |
Oringinal hut built by William Howlett in 1893. Replaced in 1940 by Ruahine Tramping Club (all material carried up!) and rebuilt by Heretaunga TC in 1979, porch added and major refurbish 2003. |
