Outlook:	Located on terrace on true left of Pourangaki River at 770 m. Reached after about 2 hrs from Kawhatau flats, over some farmland and a well maintained track in the bush.   Tracks from the hut lead north onto the Hikurangi/Hawkes Bay Ranges and south onto the Whanahuia Range, travel up the river continues to Pourangaki Hut. Access to track is over farmland which may be restricted, especially during lambing. Check with DOC, or be prepared to take the high (Purity) route.
