Outlook:	Located in a clearing at about 1300 m.   The hut was built in 2008.   A hut on the tops that is relatively easy 2-3 hours to get to via Sentry Box track and Mangleton Road end, or 4-5 hours from Makaroro Base (Whakarara Road).   It is a handy staging point for long trips in the northern Ruahines. Snow can be quite deep in June-August at times.

Heating:	Wood heater (beech tends not to burn that well), but the hut is cosy and double glazed.
History:	This replaces the old Forest Service hut that was located 50m away.
