| Map Coordinates: |
NZTM2000-BL36 581-800 |
| Outlook: |
Just above scrubline at 1300 m with unhindered access onto tops. The well benched track from the car park was established in the 1930s for servicing the Rangiwahia Ski Club. (A rope tow was established above the current hut. A few relics still exist!) The track detours abruptly up and around a major active slip before crossing a wooden arch bridge over an impressive ravine. A sidle and zig-zag continues, gaining height before crossing a small stream in the leatherwood zone and then sidles out onto the top of the spur at the hut. Time 1-30 to 2 hrs. |
